Constella Group, LCC, is seeking to fill an Industrial Hygienist position for our Client, NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) in Cincinnati, Ohio. This project will support OSHA and NIOSH efforts to investigate and characterize potential hazards associated with manufactured nanomaterials, with the goals of developing and recommending occupational safety and health measures to protect workers who manufacture and handle these materials. This collaborative effort will build upon ongoing collaboration to investigate a control-focused guidance strategy for assisting small business employers in identifying and controlling workplace chemical hazards. Known as 'control banding,' the strategy utilizes a semi-quantitative approach to risk assessment to guide employers to tested control solutions.

Essential Functions:

Contribute industrial hygiene expertise as a member of a special field team to investigate and assess exposures in industries and facilities where engineered nanomaterials are manufactured, processed, or handled
Visit and assess various nanotechnology operations by utilizing volunteer partnerships with nanomaterials manufacturing industries as part of the interdisciplinary nanotechnology field team assembled and deployed by NIOSH
Obtain information on current and evolving nanotechnology processes and applications
Develop and maintain written reports to assess and obtain insight on materials, processes, current and potential worker exposures, work practices, control procedures, and medical monitoring in operations where nanomaterials are developed or utilized
Draft reports recording sampling procedures, environmental conditions, and other data relevant to industrial hygiene field surveys
Work with key NIOSH technical staff, editorial staff, and visual communication specialists in the development of related health communication products

Experience and Skills:
Sufficient knowledge of environmental and occupational sampling protocol and data recording
Knowledge of control banding and chemical risk management strategies
Familiarity with industrial processes
Ability to develop worker training programs
Effective writing and editing skills
