Position Summary:
Provides operational leadership in planning and directing work flow, measuring quality and quantity of work output, and reporting on results. Establishes and communicates standards, sets performance goals and implements metrics to measure work output. Accomplishes team goals by effectively and efficiently planning, organizing, leading, and managing assigned resources and budget.

Key Accountabilities:
Essential Functions:

Defines team or unit goals, schedules, assigns, and monitors and measures work quality, quantity and completion. Produces standard and ad-hoc reports analyzing accomplishment vs. defined goals and standards. Implements corrective action to ensure goal accomplishment subordinates. Recognizes the value of teamwork within the division and cross-functionally

Uses coaching techniques to empower associates to achieve their goals. Provides on-going performance feedback. Fills in during manager's absence

May perform individual contributor work at a similar level or higher level than assigned associates
Challenges/Problem Solving:

Resolves issues, complaints, and problems within the work group and with related work areas

Generates internal correspondence

May prepare and deliver oral presentations

As the team or unit technical expert, is the 'go to person'; identifies and recommends new work methods, approaches and processes to improve operational efficiency, in alignment with the Company's commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement methodology
Decision Making Authority:

Works collaboratively in matrixed organizational structure to expedite tasks, processes, and procedures
Leadership Responsibilities

Trains and develops subordinate leaders and associates for current positions, job progression and job mobility within BCBSMA. Coaches work teams and assists associates in problem resolution and work completion. Motivates associates to accomplish team or unit goals. Full cycle responsibility for the Performance Connection process: goal setting, monitoring of achievement v. goals, providing timely-ongoing feedback, writing reviews, initiating corrective action if necessary. Participates in the staffing process by screening resumes, interviewing and evaluating candidates for hire in the immediate business unit or team
