Dept: Blood Center Recognizes and takes appropriate action with critical values all of the time. Accepts no inappropriate specimens annually. Notifies appropriate person of specimen which must be drawn or collected again. Performs required QC procedures and preventive maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation. Keeps work area neat, organized and well-stocked at all times. Performs basic trouble shooting of equipment and processes, documents action and notifies appropriate personnel of problems all of the time. Suggests new ideas and approaches in the workplace. Recognizes QC problems or discrepancies. Notifies appropriate individual regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to established procedures. Labels and processes specimens with less than two errors annually. Meets turnaround time expectations by prioritizing and organizing daily workload 90% of the time. Reports accurate results. Suggests and performs follow-up where appropriate. Volunteers or willingly participates in special projects and completes them within an agreed upon time frame. Acts as "tech-in-charge" for specified periods of time by solving moderately complex problems and overseeing basic as well as moderately complex, laboratory operations. Refers high complex issues to appropriate personnel. Reviews appropriate computer generated reports at the appropriate time.
