The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) seeks experienced Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants for full-time, part-time or per diem opportunities in the Cardiology Division.

Primary responsibilities will include the initial assessment and monitoring of hospitalized patients with chest pain; patient education; and discharge planning. Perform well child and adult history and physical examinations; Perform uncomplicated prenatal and post-natal care, minor illness management, and stabilized chronic care; Participate in formulation of problem list. Write independent nursing orders; Coordinate and monitors a health maintenance program for patients; Counsel patients in family planning and general health education; Perform emergency triage of patients; Coordinate dietary needs of patients with Therapeutic Dietitians; Counsels families with mental health problems; Plan and coordinate continuing care of patients between hospital, clinic and home or nursing home; Initiate the referral of patients to other departments and agencies.

Required Skills:
BCLS/ACLS certification required. Cardiac Cath Lab setting experience also preferred. Positions require a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience as a NP or PA. Candidates must fulfill the criteria for licensure as a NP or PA in DC and have excellent critical thinking, communication & time management skills.
