PFT Technician

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) is searching for a PFT Lab Technician to work in the Department of Medicine. The incumbent will deliver care to patients; assess, observe, report, and record signs and symptoms indicative of changes in the general condition of the patient as well as pertinent and significant patient responses to treatments and/or procedures; performs routine analysis and studies as requested; perform evaluation of new respiratory equipment, services, and repairs respiratory equipment; instructs nurses and other hospital staff in precautions regarding respiratory therapy equipment; document Pulmonary Function Tests, process paperwork including charge vouchers; record drug usage and prepare lab slips; may assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for procedures; plans, implement, and evaluate complex Pulmonary/Respiratory procedures for patients, both IN and OUT-patients; may provide respiratory therapy procedures to patients outside of special care areas, which may include routine oxygen, humidity and aerosol therapy administered when doing general floor therapy; tracks scope of problems to determine the needs for external repair and places service calls, when necessary, for all PFT Lab equipment.



Required Skills:
Graduation from an approved two year respiratory therapist program; RRT or CRT Credentials by the N.B.R.C.; and two years of previous PFT experience are required. Current D.C. RPFT License or PFT Credentials preferred.
