Patient Advocate

Patient Advocate

The MDVIP Patient Advocate position is a temporary position lasting approximately 14 - 16 weeks during the launch or transition period of a new MDVIP-affiliated physician.  The Patient Advocate works daily from the particular physician?s office to which they are assigned.  The Patient Advocate?s primary responsibility is to meet with every patient that walks through the doctor?s office door.  They will explain the MDVIP Program to patients and discuss insurance and payment options.  Their goal is to assist the patient in making a decision whether or not to join the new practice. For patients not interested in joining the MDVIP Program, continuity of care will be addressed and the doctor?s recommended list of alternate physicians will be provided. Salary for this position is $850/wk.

Duties and Responsibilities

?  Mirror the doctor?s office hours.  This allows him/her to meet with every patient.  This includes the time scheduled for face-to-face meetings with patients to discuss the MDVIP Program.

?  Answer all patient inquiries, via phone and in-office, regarding the MDVIP Program.

?  Sign up patients for the new practice.  The Patient Advocate will send all membership applications to the MDVIP Membership Department for processing.

?  Provide the doctor with daily updates of in-office sales activity.

?  Send a daily report of patient contact and results to MDVIP.  This creates a coordinated effort between the Patient Advocate and MDVIP?s Patient Service Center to reach all of the doctor?s patients and determine their final decision.

?  Work with their Regional Account Manager to meet the doctor?s needs and answer any questions the doctor or the doctor?s staff may have during the launch.  The Regional Account Manager, supported by the Patient Advocate, serve as the doctor?s primary liaisons with the MDVIP Corporate office.

?  Work with the doctor?s office staff in providing updated patient contact information to the MDVIP Patient Service Center.  In order to contact every patient and inform them of the changes in the practice, it may be necessary to correct some patient addresses and/or phone numbers.

?  Support all patient events.

?  Participate in all staff training sessions, which are conducted by the Regional Account Manager.  The Patient Advocate will also assist in preparing the doctor?s staff to facilitate continued membership growth upon completion of the practice transformation process.

?  Inform the doctor?s office if they will be absent or late, as well as if they need to leave early for any business or personal reason.

?  The Patient Advocate is not intended to take the place or function as a traditional doctor?s staff member.  As such, Patient Advocates are not employed to answer the practice phone, schedule patient appointments, or copy / handle patient medical charts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A Patient Advocate must people-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.  He/she must be self-directed, highly motivated, and have the ability to multi-task.  Good listening skills are critical, and a commitment to fulfill the position for the entire transition period is a must.  Computer skills required include basic to intermediate use of email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

A Patient Advocate should be a college-educated individual with 8+ years of work experience.  Preferable work experience includes pharmaceutical sales, medical device sales, clinical work, customer service, or other sales experience.

Qualified candidates can send their resumes to shenrich@mdvip.com

or fax to (561) 886-3279 (Fax Ref ID: VAPA).
