Pre-Award Grant Administrator - Research Administration

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Research Administration, the Pre-Award Grant Administrator (PGA) provides project management support for all pre-award activities for research grants, contract and subcontract applications (NIH, industrial, foundation). Responsible for establishing effective working relationships with principal investigators and sponsors.  Understands the unique process involved in the overall research effort and ability to comprehend the needs of the individual researchers. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in business, management or finance. Requires at least 2 years of progressively more responsible experience in grant preparation and research administration including extensive experience in pre-award administration of grants and contracts, particularly with the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense.  Knowledge of federal regulations, polices, procedures, circulars, laws applicable to grant contract activity, in particular the PHS and NIH Grants Policy Statements, as well as familiarity with federal and non-profit regulations, policies, and procedures including OMB Circulars and Federal Acquisition Regulations.  Working knowledge of relational databases for management of grants and contract information.  Knowledge of the NIG electronic submission initiative using SF424 (R&R) is preferred.  Advance computer skills, including familiarity with the internet, Excel, Word, database entry and information retrieval, and email.  Additional expertise in fiscal management, environmental health and safety, and human resources (for both academic and staff positions) is preferred.  Qualified candidate will have experience in the management of sponsored research, preferably biomedical.  Candidate must have demonstrated financial management experience, including budget development, grant and contract management.  Membership in professional organizations such as SRA and/or NCURA is preferred.
