REPORTS TO: General Manager
Position Term: 9 -10 month position (August-May)
FUNCTION SUMMARY: Focused on nutrition education and service to resident dining students, the Registered Dietitian will provide nutritional analysis, awareness, education and consultation services for all dining services. Maintains resident satisfaction at a level that ensures account retention and compliance with the provisions of client contract.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Nutrition Education and Services
? Consults with General Manager and management team during menu development process. Recommends menu changes, when needed to insure nutritional quality of items being offered.
? Conducts analysis and maintains nutritional data for entrees, side dishes, and desserts. Prepares customized item identifiers with nutritional information, and ensures these are posted at all meals.
? Consults individually with students, upon request, regarding personal menu planning, special diets, nutritional recommendations, and weight management.
? Establishes and maintains a Nutrition Center in the Dining Commons to include Nutritional Analysis Book with nutrition information on all recipes.
? Publishes and distributes a monthly Nutrition Newsletter to include healthy eating habits, menus, and current national health trends.
? Conducts quarterly Lunch Box Seminars, highlighting current health issues.
? Implements and promotes participation in the Wellness and You! nutrition and lifestyle program.
2. Leadership
? Demonstrates and promotes the Sodexho culture, values and management philosophy.

3. Supervision
? Complies with all Human Resource policies and procedures, including timely documentation.
? Supervises employees, as assigned.
? Coaches and counsels employees and supervisors as needed; provides continuous feedback on performance and applies appropriate development tools to assist in their individual growth.
4. Training
w Plans and implements on-going In-Service nutrition training for managers and staff.
w Conducts training and seminars, as requested.
w Attends Division, Regional and District training.
5. Communication
? Maintains positive customer and client relations through the effective use of, but not limited to: table tents, advertising, flyers, and Comment Cards.
? Attends regularly scheduled meetings with Management Team, Student Manager(s) and Shiftleaders.
? Immediately reports all issues involving any level of possible theft, substance abuse, discrimination or harassment.
6. Financial Expectations
w Provides input into unit marketing plan, relative to Nutrition Awareness and Education.
w Controls budget allocated for Nutrition Program.
7. Operations
? Uses all equipment safely and trains others.
? Assists in the production of meals, as needed. Assures Just In Time cooking procedures are followed.
? Maintains unit service equipment in safe working order, including proper signage.
? Stays current on nutrition, food and dining trends in the industry.
8. All other duties deemed appropriate by the General Manager.
Position Profile/Qualifications
? Bachelor?s degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Dietetics or equivalent experience.
? Current Certified Registered Dietitian.
? Experience in providing nutrition consultation services.
? Working knowledge of nutrient elements and analysis process.
? Demonstrated oral and written English communication skills, including group presentation skills. Bilingual helpful.
? Positive and professional public relations skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
? Able to analyze, interpret and present complex data.
? Able to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
? Able to anticipate and solve problems.
? Professional appearance, attire and demeanor.
? Computer literacy preferred. Able to learn computer software and utilize effectively, and work at the computer for an extended period of time.
? Highly organized with good time management skills.
? A hospitality orientation.
? Demonstrated ability to manage and provide leadership for a diverse workforce.
? Promotions, advertising or marketing experience desirable.
? Able to lift 30 pounds, twist and bend frequently, work in a standing position for extended periods of time.
? Able to maintain consistent and regular attendance.
? Able to work an average of 50-60 hours per week, with some exceptions, including weekends, and variable weekday hours.
