Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Inc. provides in vitro diagnostic products to hospital, commercial and clinical laboratories, and blood donor centers. Its products include reagents and instrument systems used in blood typing and donor testing; clinical chemistry determinations and immunoassays for disease diagnosis and therapy management; as well as RhoGAM?, an injectable drug used to prevent hemolytic disease of the newborn.
The Reference Laboratory Technician II (1st or 2nd Shift) will be responsible for the analytical testing of patient samples and other fluids (eg. Calibrators, controls, CAP, SRM and ERF) to support the release process, stability, accuracy testing, and new method development. Using multiple instrumentation including centrifugal analyzers (Cobas FARA), manual spectrophotometers (DU640), Olympus AU400, flame photometers (IL943), atomic absorption (Perkin Elmer Analyst 300), RIA (tritium), HPLC (Waters/Millennium), and VITROS systems.
The Technician will maintain instrumentation, calibrate, run quality control, and analyze requested samples. Summary reports, analysis of technical data, evaluation of quality control, and instrument troubleshooting are within the scope of this position. The Technician will also support the Reference Laboratory, Stability, Accuracy Based Release Program, and Research & Development testing needs and fill in as needed. Work will be scheduled, supervised, and follow established methods and procedures. Compliance to regulatory, safety, and company regulations is expected.
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience are required. An Associates or a Bachelors degree is a definite plus. Must possess basic operating knowledge of laboratory test equipment and automated equipment, including operation troubleshooting and quality control. Careful attention to detail is essential. Planning and organization of daily workload, high affinity toward teamwork, and problem solving skills are desirable. A full, working knowledge of quality control is preferred. The candidate should be able to multi-task, adapt to changes in daily workload, and function in a cross-functional team setting. Ability to work on the 1st or 2nd shift is required.
