Respiratory Therapist I (Career & Per Diem)

One career and per diem position available, located in the UC Davis Health System, Pulmonary Care Services, located in Sacramento, working hours 7:00 p.m. ? 7:00 a.m., variable days.  This classification is represented by a union.

 

Responsibilities: These positions will perform blood gas analysis, whole blood electrolyte analysis, oximetry measurements and quality control of Blood Gas Lab instruments. Enter data in the Blood Gas Lab and LIS computer systems. Maintain analyzers in operational condition for above tests. Maintain analyzer QC and participate in departmental CQI program.

 

Requirements: Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner license required. Knowledge and skill to perform blood gas, whole blood and electrolyte analysis and operation of equipment. Qualified to perform blood gas, whole blood and electrolyte analysis. Ability to operate computers, calculators and utilize nomograms. Mechanical ability to diagnose and repair simple problems with whole blood analyzers.  Ability to troubleshoot minor computer problems. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions, directions, and information appropriately. Special Requirements: Must have physical strength to allow moving of compressed gas cylinders and equipment.  Must be able to travel extensively throughout the hospital multiple times a shift to collect specimens. Must be able to work overtime, variable hours and days including weekends and holidays as needed. THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION.
