Job Description:


 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


· Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s core values of Integrity, Care, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program.


· Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.


· Properly utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and conferring with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per protocol. 


· Performs respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.


· Performs quality controls as needed, obtains, analyzes and reports findings of blood gases and cooximetry.


· Demonstrates proficiency at airway management to include: noninvasive bi-level-positive-airway-pressure set-up and monitoring, proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, LMA, assist with oral and nasal endotracheal intubation under supervision, and performance of airway suctioning.


· Performs O2 transport as ordered by physician or supervisor. 


· Performs oximetry and apnea  monitoring as ordered by physician.


· Demonstrates knowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system.


· Assists with clinical instruction and serves as a resource person to lower level therapists.


· Accurately documents, posts and charges for procedures neatly, accurately, thoroughly, and completely to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital.


· Practices the principles of universal body substance isolation and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis.


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


 


· Graduate of a respiratory or cardiopulmonary science program


· Must satisfactorily complete a general department orientation and be proficient in all procedures defined in the principal duties and responsibilites section of this job description.


 


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:


 


· Must hold certification and be registry eligible as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care.


· Must have a current license or temporary certificate issued by the State of Florida, Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
