Speech Language Pathologist

The SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST is a qualified health care professional who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech and language therapy services as prescribed by the attending physician.

He/she is responsible for: (1) providing skilled therapy care; (2) recording clinical and progress notes; and (3) coordinating other patient care activities/services to provide the highest quality of patient care in the geographic service area to which he/she is assigned. He/she works under the direct supervision of the designated supervisor.

Required Skills:
1. The Speech Language Pathologist is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association with a certificate of Clinical Competence in the appropriate area or meets the educational requirements for certification and is accumulating the supervised experience for certification.

2. Licensed or registered as a Therapist in the state(s) in which he/she is required to practice if the state has registration practices.

3. A Master"&tm;s degree in Speech Language Pathology in Audiology and one (1) full year of supervised work experience;


OR

4. Is fulfilling the clinical fellowship year and is supervised by a Licensed Speech Pathologist.

5. A minimum of one year of acute care experience required; previous home care experience preferred.

6. Ability to relate to and treat acutely ill/terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.

7. Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management, and documentation skills.

8. Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the patient.

9. Must possess the disposition and personality to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff, and interact professionally as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

10. Must possess a strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization.

11. Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet identified patient needs.

12. Absolute integrity and the use of good judgment to handle the professional and confidential nature of assignments..

13. Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.

14. Speaks, writes, reads, and comprehends English.
