Sr. Assoc Research Scientist/Research Scientist

Responsibilities:
This requisition is for a budgeted replacement position for Jennifer Inlow, who resigned from the company. This position will support manufacturing and testing of Lab Lots as part of Molecular R&D's Pilot Plant for the Phoenix project and other new molecular projects (e.g., kPCR menu expansion, ASR/CE Mark assays). This position will also support Walpole Operations by manufacturing HIV and HCV Reference Standards, HCV Phage Stock and other bDNA intermediates as well as other departments (e.g., Clincal Affairs, Bayer's Reference Testing Laboratory and Customer Training) by synthesizing oligonucleotides, preparing training/proficiency panels, and manufacturing ASR or GPR and other ancillary reagents, as necessary.

Skills:

- 'Hands on' working knowledge of molecular biology techniques including PCR, hybridization-based assays, RNA/DNA extraction and purification, gel and capillary electrophoresis and other analytical methods.
- Experience developing and/or manufacturing products in a FDA regulated industry.
- Molecular cloning, bacterial and tissue culture, oligonucleotide syntheis and purification are desirable skills.
- Demonstrated capibility to design, execute, analyze and document multivariable experiments in a product development environment
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc...)
- Experience with bioinformatics and other molecular biology/genetic databases are pluses.
- Must be familar with Universal Precautions for handling potentially infectious samples and safe working practices for hazardous chemicals/biologicals used in a R&D setting.
- Demostrated ability to work in a team orientated environment.

Education & Typical Experience:
Typical education would be a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology with 3 - 6 yrs. experience.
