 Responsibility and Authority:

 

The Senior Research and Development Technician has authority and responsibility for:

 Completing assignments with limited supervision to meet established schedule.Reporting progress related to product builds or testingContributing ideas, identifying issues and recommending solutions for products in developmentDesigning and fabricating product prototypes, processes, and equipment/fixtures, including acquiring raw materialsConducting safety and performance testing for defined protocols.Complying with lab notebook procedures in accordance with company standards.

 Scope of Duties/Job Description

 Execute advanced product fabrication and process development assignments associated with concept feasibility, establishment, verification, validation, and manufacturing transfer phases of design control.Contribute ideas and solutions to new products, which meet product specification requirements.Assist in design and build product assemblies for demonstration concepts or for testing.Write basic experimental procedures, perform testing, analyze data, and document results.Utilize statistical methods to verify specifications or resolve problems.Apply independent judgment in troubleshooting problems, suggesting alternatives, and providing recommendations for continuous quality improvement.Develop reliable processes for manufacturing through activities including process parameters, building fixtures, conducting tests.Document development activities through lab notebook and other appropriate records.Train all technical personnel, including engineers, to manufacturing process instructions, which are new or modified from R&D.Assist in identifying necessary raw materials, selecting vendors, and establishing relationships with these subcontractors/vendors.Communicate key results or other related information to interdepartmental team members.
