Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a variety of patient care activities and technical critical care health care functions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and/or physician. In addition, is able to provide receptionist and clerical duties within the critical care areas.
Performs basic care tasks under the direction of the RN.
Reports changes or variances in the patient's clinical picture.
Documents care provided to the patient.
Updates the Medical Care Plan as physician orders warrant.
Identifies cardiac arrhythmias.
Monitors various hemodynamic readings and reports abnormalities.
Utilizes knowledge of aseptic technique.
Performs clerical activities such as transcribing of orders, completing requisitions and daily records.
Orders supplies.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED:
Successful completion of those requirements for Nursing Aide Registry for the state of Iowa.
Preferred Certification: Basic Cardiac Life Support/BCLS
Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to patient body fluids, infectious disease, and hazardous patient treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy, etc.
Potential injury from patient actions.
Prolonged walking and standing, repeated bending and stooping 25% of the time.
Capable of lifting 40 lbs independently 25% of the time.
