JOB TITLE: Health Services Organization Clinical Pharmacist
DEPARTMENT: Health Services
REPORTS TO: Chief Medical Officer
JOB SUMMARY:
Educate provider partners (MSO's), physician groups and physicians on pharmacy policies, formulary and alternative drug therapies in order to maintain pharmaceutical cost efficiency while enhancing the quality of the Humana member's health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ACADEMIC DETAILING (90%)
- Use market produced reports to identify outlier providers in the need of pharmacy cost containment, strategic interventions and education.
- Regular and ad hoc meetings face to face with providers to educate on formulary compliance, policies, changes, generic utilization, and alternative drug therapies.
- Provide provider partners and physician specific reports that emphasize cost savings opportunities.
- Provide general pharmacy presentations to provider partner and physician groups.
- Provide market produced reports to support their academic detailing needs. Act as an information resource for Humana pharmacists. Visit pharmacies frequently to address any concerns of the pharmacists.
- Produce adhoc reports, when needed, to supplement production reports.
- Interface with corporate pharmacy department and act as market liaison as to overall pharmacy initiatives and strategy
SOURCE OF PHARMACY INFORMATION (3%)
- Assist any department with questions regarding pharmacy benefits, coverage issues, or drug information.
- Provide presentations for departments needing clarification on persistent pharmacy issues.
PARTICIPATE IN MARKET ACTIVITIES (2%)
Attend health fairs in support of Medicare sales, Health Services Department Organization initiatives and support of wellness programs such as Silver Sneakers. Attend other events as the need arises.
MARKET PHARMACY RELATED ISSUES (5%)
- Work with Market President, Director of Finance, Directors of Network and Contracting, Medical Directors, Health Services Directors and, Corporate Pharmacy to resolve market related problems.
- Provide clinical expertise and consultation to case managers for members in case management program, multiple medications and drug interactions.
- Provide consultation and evaluation of pharmaceutical delivery for ancillary contracts.
- Travel required to the various markets in the North/Central Florida region
- Provide for other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Chief Medical Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
PharmD (preferred) or BS in Pharmacy.
Current, valid pharmacist license in the state of Florida.
Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent presentation and communications skills
Three years clinical experience
Experience in managed care preferred.
