Pharmacy Manager
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing administrative decision-making, leadership and strategic planning including the efficient and productive use of personnel, material and financial resources. The incumbent is also responsible for the efficient and purposeful integration of services with other areas and emerging delivery systems. The position will manage ongoing analysis, development and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Executive.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
All associates will be held accountable to the Clarian Standard of Service that is defined by Service Excellence. Embraces and promotes Clarian North Medical Center Operating Principles in every aspect of work.
1. Leadership: As part of Clarian North leadership, is responsible to clinically assist staff whenever necessary. Is responsible for coverage or arranging coverage 24 hours daily, seven days/week. May be accountable for other departments/areas as assigned. Is accountable for strategic planning, program development, labor management, and overall operational administration.
2. Planning: Accountable for successful implementation of annual operating plan, and financial analysis and formulation of recommendations to achieve planned objectives, the business plan, and strategic planning.
3. Personnel Management: Effectively manages assigned staff by fairly interpreting and applying organizational policies, procedures and values. Maintains a continuous employee feedback process to enhance work processes.
4. Accreditation: Ensures compliance with all applicable quality and accreditation standards for assigned areas of accountability.
5. Financial Management: Provides effective monitoring, intervention, and financial management of assigned areas. Seeks and recommends potential opportunities for cost containment, and analyzes variances from budget plan or anticipated trends.
6. Continuous Improvement: Promotes and supports the participation of staff in applying the principle/model of continuous improvement to improve existing processes. Ensures optimal utilization of resources and quality while reducing cost. Works with others to continually identify areas for improvement.
7. Customer Service: Effects customer satisfaction by continually assessing customer needs/wants and promotes changes to that information. Assists departments/services to develop and implement plans that respond to the voice of the customer and provides customer service training to new employees.
8. Quality Assurance: Directs the implementation and maintenance of the systems for providing quantity and quality of staff to meet clinical, administrative and support requirements in assigned areas.
9. Department Accountabilities: Coordinates the activities of the hospital and retail Pharmacy consistent with organizational goals, objectives, and operating principles. Coordinates operational, clinical/educational services, drug information services, and investigational drug services in accordance with Pharmacy standards of Practice and applicable laws and regulations. Plans, implements, and monitors programs which focus on optimal, cost-effective use of medications throughout the organization. Assesses productivity, outcomes, and economic impact of operational, clinical and educational programs/services.
10. Safety: As appropriate for the respective position, the incumbent is responsible for the participating in the development, monitoring and sustainment of a safe, highly reliable and functional environment for all occupants of Clarian North, as supported by the following behaviors-open communication, consistent work habits, and compliance with identified departmental safety measures.
11. Culture Champion: Responsible for being a culture champion by participating in the development, monitoring and sustainment of the culture that is an integral part of the Clarian North philosophy and vision. The incumbent is responsible for embracing and demonstrating the culture of energy, passion and positive atmosphere while delivering superb customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
? Requires Pharm D degree in Pharmacy.
? Requires licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in Indiana.
? Prefers 5 years or more in pharmacy management.
? Requires knowledge of Clarian personnel policies and procedures.
? Requires knowledge of state and national regulatory agency guidelines.
? Requires the ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.
? Requires the ability to plan and manage the utilization of resources.
? Requires the ability to facilitate and lead work groups.
? Requires knowledge of state and federal laws relative to assigned area.
? Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
? Requires ability to communicate sensitive issues with all levels of employees/management.
? Requires the ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
? Requires the ability to take initiative and meet objectives.
? Requires a high level of interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
? Requires technical knowledge and understanding of the composition of properties of drugs and their manufacture and users.
