POSITION#1 - PHARMACY - STAFF

General Summary

Accept incoming orders for new medications, prioritize by patient need, validate and check orders.

 Essential Functions/pharmacyProvides supervision of technician unit regarding dose cart fill and verifying contentsSort new medication orders and prioritizes by patient need.Completes medication profiles including allergies and medication ordersVerifies medication prior to dispensing from pharmacySupervises IV room technician and verifies sterile productsPrepares TPN, chemotherapy, other products (IV)Checks and documents pending files on a daily basis.Provides clinical functions including monitor target drug usage and pharmacokinetic parameters.Validates and checks orders and medications entered by technicianAttends case management rounds

 Qualifications:BS Pharmacy a must!One year of experience preferredLicensed by the State of New York a must!

POSITION#2 - PHARMACY IT SPECIALIST

General Summary

 Responsible for the management of the pharmacy information systems, collaborating with IT Department, to ensure seamless and efficient operations.  Responsible for all routine updates and maintenance.  

 QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy a mustNew York State Pharmacy License a mustexperience in pharmacy computer applications.

Essential FunctionsOversees the installation and implementation of all pharmacy information systems.Responsible for a detailed knowledge of the pharmacy information systems, their databases, hardware configurations.Coordinates database development/updates, testing and maintenance for the pharmacy information system.Trains all pharmacy personnel in the use of the pharmacy information systems. Retrain personnel when a staff  member is not following appropriate procedures.Trouble shoots system operations and problems. Communicates and coordinates problem solving with internal and external sources.Develop and prepare Policies and Procedures for the use of the pharmacy information systems. Develop a log specifying when report/jobs need to be run. Revises the policies and procedures/logs yearly or as necessary.Coordinates pharmacy database modifications in the pharmacy information system, including drug formulary, billing numbers and pricing.Schedules and coordinates hardware maintenance updates, testing and preventative maintenance work. Asses on an annual basis whether hardware needs to be upgraded to assure maximum benefit of the system.Maintains pharmacy information and access control.Develop all pharmacy information system reports in concert with IT requested by the department.Maintains availability on off shifts by pager to answer information system problems.Knowledge of corporate compliance and regulatory requirements as applies to data integrity and confidentiality.Demonstrates independent problem solving and organizational skills.Work in collaboration with IT on healthcare informatics projects. (BPOC,CPOE)
