Pharmacy Technician (Coppell) - (HH28783-1742-TX)

SUMMARY OF KEY JOB FUNCTION:

The Pharmacy Technician at DaVita Rx performs and supports the DaVita Rx Pharmacist and other DaVita Rx teammates in the operation of our Prescription Entry, Call Center and Fulfillment areas. The Prescription Entry function utilizes the technician's practical skills to transcribe prescriptions prior to a Pharmacist review. The Pharmacy Technician in the Call Center initiates requests for new prescriptions and clarifications from Physician's offices on behalf of our patients. The Fulfillment area allows our technicians to work in a highly automated setting ensuring that prescriptions are filled accurately.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

o High School Diploma or equivalent is required
o Pharmacy Technician Certification in the State of Florida current and in good standing is required.
o Basic computer skills
o Knowledge or experience with prescription entry software is a major plus.
o Mathematical skills
o Strong work ethic and desire to serve our patients

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

o Creates prescription headers for Rx entry.
o Transcribes prescription data and calculates patient medication quantities and expected dates of fulfillment.
o Enters prescription data with a high level of quality (accuracy), timeliness and efficiency.
o Prepares faxes and handles incoming/outgoing telephone calls and faxes to/from physician's offices.
o A strong understanding of, and adherence to, Pharmacy standard operating procedures.
o Provides accurate prescription fulfillment utilizing manual processes and automation.
o Maintains a positive, professional attitude when dealing with DaVita Rx patients, teammates and physicians' offices.
o Reviews and processes prescriptions accurately and in accordance with physicians' orders as provided by DaVita clinics via fax or telephone.
o Assists the customer service teammates receiving incoming phone calls from patients and clinics.
o Provides support for the dispensing automation including replenishment and maintenance with a high degree of accuracy.
o Maintains strong knowledge of DaVita Rx policies and procedures and applies them consistently.
o Maintains knowledge of Pharmacy rules and government regulations and maintains compliance at all times.
o May assist in the supervision and training of other Pharmacy Technicians and other DaVita Rx teammates.
o Assists with quality improvement initiatives.
o Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
o Orients and mentors new teammates.
o Demonstrates "leadership by example" in projecting a positive attitude, and involvement in DaVita Rx employee activities.

Other Duties as Assigned

o Perform other duties as assigned.
o Able to work overtime with little or no notice, as needed.
o Attend staff meetings, teleconferences and patient care conferences as needed.
o Ability to lift minimum weight of 35 pounds, and able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
o Understand and follow DaVita Rx employee policies and procedures.
