RETAIL/AMBULATORY PHARMACIST-FT DAYS

Responsibilities:

-Interprets and evaluates physicians? medication orders to provide prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.

-Oversees pharmacy support personnel.

-Works with insurance companies/third party payers to resolve reimbursement and eligibility issues so patients can receive what they need or an alternative drug.

-Orders pharmaceuticals.

-Assesses pharmacy performance.

-Advises/consults with patients and families, medical and nursing staff.

 

 

 

Qualifications

-A Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is required. A doctor of pharmacy or clinical Master?s of Science degree and completion of a pharmacy practice residency is preferred. Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required.

-A minimum of two years experience in an integrated health care system, which includes an acute care hospital or equivalent, is required.

-Knowledge of pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical toxicology, and pharmacokinetics (especially the assigned area of focused practice); investigational drug research methodology; medication distribution and administration systems; pharmacoeconomics; nursing and hospital administrative practices is required.

-Ability to mentor and/or provide front-line management of pharmacy residents/fellows, pharmacy students and pharmacy support personnel in order to optimize the medication use process.
