CARDIAC REHAB RN

Relief, day shift 6:30 am-5:00 pm, M-F

Description:

CARDIAC REHAB RN provides patient and family focused care as part of the health care team in accordance with CHS vision, philosophy, policies, and procedures while applying standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with CHS policies and procedures and within laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon.
1. Demonstrates ability to supervise exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre and post exercise and watching for abnormal responses on the telemetry monitor. Assesses participants pre, during, and post exercise making appropriate referrals and /or recommendations to the participant, other staff, AUM and Medical Director.
2. Reports any significant participant conditions to the AUM and the participants physician.

Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Registration: Current licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Experience: Basic nursing skills required. One year current experience in CCU or Intermediate Care and able to demonstrate knowledge/skill in the concepts of cardiac care. Current experience in cardiac rehab preferred.

Job Knowledge: Must demonstrate an understanding of cardiovascular and pulmonary anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Must be able to identify common cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions limiting or otherwise influencing the prescription of physical activity, dietary intake, lipid management, smoking cessation, or stress management. Knowledge in exercise physiology preferred. Basic knowledge of psychosocial concepts and critical thinking skills required. Knowledge in interpretation and management of arrythmias and the response to exercise. Excellent communication skills required (both oral and written).

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
