CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST


Medical, Gerontology and Diabetes Emphasis


This acute care, not-for-profit hospital is a research and teaching facility that offers the latest technologies in medicine, including over 40 medical specialties.  The hospital offers certified primary stroke center, the regions only dedicated neuroscience institute, ccertificate of distinction for Congestive Heart Failure program. 


In this dynamic CNS position you will assume a leadership role in the three spheres of Influence: Patient, Nursing and Organization with a primary focus in the area of Inpatient Diabetes.  Through advanced professional nursing practice the CNS will support the goals of the hospital, which is achieved by the following:


(1) Integration of knowledge of disease treatment into holistic assessment and diagnosis of illness and wellness experiences to develop nursing interventions that promote highest level of health.


(2) Design, implementation and evaluation of population -based programs of care that integrate medical and nursing interventions and, as appropriate, enhance patient outcomes cost effectively.


(3) Serving as leader/consultant/change agent/mentor in advancing the practice of nursing to achieve quality, cost effective patient outcomes within the specialty population and as appropriate across populations.


(4) Leading multidisciplinary groups in designing and implementing innovative alternative solutions that address system problems and/or patient care issues across the continuum of care.


As a CNS one of your primary objectives will be to promote a collaborative relationship among health care team members.  This role will allow the CNS with Medical, Gerontology,  and Inpatient Diabetes clinical expertise to focus on complex cases, serve as a clinical resource expert, facilitate care management across the continuum, work to improve clinical outcomes, research & promote best practices, and take on project management as related to the patient populations and interest.  This unique advanced practice opportunity will allow an experienced CNS to work closely with a strong CNS colleague group within the Medical Center and allows for expansion and development of this new role. 


The candidate must have a MSN, RN and minimum two years experience in a similar CNS position required.  This is an ideal position for a self-motivated individual looking to expand and improve the medical/chronic care continuums of care.
