EMERGENCY SERVICES ON-CALL RN

Relief, various shifts, various days, every 3rd weekend

Description:

EMERGENCY SERVICES ON-CALL RN will render the highest quality standards of care as indicated for the life support, stabilization and maintenance of the patient during the ED stay in accordance with operational policies, procedures, protocol and physician orders.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with CHC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:

1. Trauma-maintains current knowledge and skills needed to care for all types and ages of trauma patients.
2. Triage-is able to appropriately and rapidly assess, prioritize and communicate and direct findings to appropriate staff.
3. Crisis Management-has ability to rapidly assess and respond to crisis situations utilizing available hospital and community resources.

Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Registration: Current Oregon Licensure with the State Board of Nursing.

Experience: Require one year ER or Critical Care experience., current ACLS, and TNCC or TEAM certification, PALS or ENPC.(or the ability to get certifications within 6 months).

Shift requirements: All nurses who work in the ER on call will be required to work their share of night shifts along with the other shifts.

Job Knowledge: Basic physiological and psychosocial concepts, manipulative skills, problem-solving skills, concepts of medical and surgical asepsis and the disease processes required. Experience dealing with the public and some clinical expertise in specific area preferred. May enter position following one year experience in ER or Critical Care area. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required.

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
