FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER RESOURCE NURSE

Schedule:
Part-time 48 hrs per pay period, night shift 8 pm-8:30 am, various days

Description:

FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER RESOURCE NURSE is responsible for transitional care, flexibility, and multi-tasking within the labor and delivery skill set that contributes to smooth operations, patient satisfaction, and physician satisfaction within an environment that experiences unpredictable variations in census and acuity on an hourly basis.
Maintains reliable and consistent attendance. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with CHC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Performs initial assessments on O.B. patients following the work instructions of the department.
2. Provides limited ultrasounds in accordance with national training and guidelines.
3. Provides baby nurse care at deliveries in accordance with NRP national guidelines.
4. Performs initial assessments and non-stress testing for inductions for early morning inductions and other inductions as requested by AUM.
5. Provides relief for AUM and other caregivers as delegated by AUM and provides lunch relief to caregivers as AUM directs.
6. Responsible for assisting in any capacity as a nurse that she/he is trained in within the birthing center.
7. Demonstrates flexibility and ability to multi-task and a willingness to accept different assignments in a changing environment.
8. Flexibility in scheduling is required. Positions may flex to every other weekend as unit census demands increase.

Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate degree required. BSN or BS degree preferred.

Registration: NRP required. Prefer National Certification with AWHONN.

Experience: Five full years in a busy labor and delivery unit required.

Job Knowledge: Must have labor and delivery skills, and be willing to learn limited ultrasound.

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending messages.
