Nurse Education Specialist - Emergency

Overview : Shift: Evenings/Nights The Nursing Education Specialist (NES) is a professional nurse, who, through advanced study and nursing practice, has become an expert in nursing program development. In association with the Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), clinical educators, and nurse managers, the NES coordinates orientation and educational programs for nursing staff. Through educational endeavors, the NES influences quality patient care, promotes interdepartmental teamwork, enhances staff development, and participates in retention and recruitment activities. The NES operationalizes adult learning theory in evaluating educational needs of the nursing staff, developing and teaching educational programs and inservices. The NES maintains effective relationships with staff, peers, preceptors and nursing directors to effectively promote staff education. Service Excellence is demonstrated by consistently exhibiting the BHS Service Standards.

Qualifications :

Current Arizona RN license, Bachelor's degree in education or nursing. Minimum three years in acute care facility. Recent clinical experience with age specific patient population in area of responsibility. Experience as an education coordinator/instructor in healthcare environment. Minimum of two years in a position with primary responsibility for design and delivery of learning content, preferred. This position requires excellent communication skills and significant experience in developing, teaching and coordinating educational programs for adult learners. This position requires strong organization, communication, group interaction and presentation skills. Ability to take the initiative, to problem solve, and to improve processes required. Articulate Banner's service standards and values and can give examples from prior work experiences.
