The Cardiac Center at The Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia provides the most advanced, comprehensive care for children with all types of acquired and congenital heart disease. Established in 1998, the Center was created from the belief that only the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team can produce the most comprehensive care for patients, the fullest support for families, and the very best outcomes. The Center brings together more than 500 highly-skilled professionals, dedicated to the care of infants, children, adolescents, and adults with heart disease. At its core is a cadre of internationally recognized cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiothoracic anesthesiologists, critical care specialists and cardiac nurses. The team is supported by specialists in many related disciplines, to provide seamless and comprehensive care. Due for occupancy in 2007: all inpatient cardiac services across one hospital floor with 66 dedicated beds, 3 cardiac OR suites, 2 cardiac cath suites, one combined Cath/MRI suite, and dedicated beds for the Fetal Heart Program with LDR?s and an obstetric OR.
Reporting to the Director of Cardiac Nursing, the Nurse Manager has 24-hour operational accountability for the inpatient units. The Manager role includes resource management and fiscal responsibilities. The Nurse Manager will be front and center to the staff as a collaborative leader, active listener, change agent, motivator, mentor and partner for the shared vision of clinical excellence and practice, and will work closely and effectively with the Medical Directors and physician team. Leading and influencing initiatives will require strong communication skills, a collaborative leadership style, and clinical credibility. Creativity, vision and strong interpersonal skills are necessary. A Master?s degree in Nursing is required.
