Qualifications
Bachelors of Science Nursing required.
Current California Registered Nurse licensure required.
Utilization certification preferred.
Minimum three years experience in a variety of acute patient care settings required.
Minimum of three years UM experience with supervisory experience required.
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.
Ability to work well with staff for various educational and professional skills backgrounds to achieve common goals and promote collaboration required.
Thorough computer knowledge, including on-line database and personal computer skills required.
Knowledge of wide variety of local and national resources for use in UM process required.
Strong organizational skills with ability to work well under pressure with conflicting priorities required.

Summary
Sharp Community Medical Group (SCMG) is one of the state's largest and most successful IPAs. Established in 1989, it has over 175,000 members and is comprised of over 250 primary care physicians and over 500 specialists. The Health Services division of SCMG coordinates the medical care of members for inpatient and outpatient services, has a staff of 80 nurses, coordinators and support personnel and  manage utilization review, case management and quality improvement functions for the medical Group.   In collaboration with the Health Services Director, this position will manage the day-to-day operations of the UM department. The position will manage an effective Utilization Management Program that encompasses a ?Patient-Centered? Care Management approach that includes prior authorization, concurrent review/discharge planning, case management, quality management and compliancecomponents.
