Nursing Education Spec/Diabetes Program

Overview : This is working with the inpatient diabetic patient populations. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with facility and department policies and in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. This position is accountable for the quality of education delivered to patients seeking counseling in the in patient Diabetes Program. The educator utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the department.

Qualifications :

Must possess a current, valid license to practice as a RN in Arizona. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. Two years experience in diabetes education and current certification by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators is preferred. Incumbent must demonstrate clinical knowledge and expertise the diabetes care and the ability to work with the adult and geriatric populations. Expertise in public speaking is desirable.
