OPERATING ROOM RN

Schedule:
RN INTERN Full-time 80 hrs per pay period, evening shift 1 pm-11:30 pm, M-F

Description:

OPERATING ROOM RN provides patient and family focused care as part of the health care team in accordance with SCMC mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures while applying standards for professional nursing practice in the Operating Room.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with SCMC policies and procedures in accordance with Nursing practice in the State of Oregon, AORN Standards and Recommended Practices.
1. Assesses the physiological and psychosocial health status utilizing the surgical checklist and admission criteria.
2. Develops an appropriate plan of care that prescribes nursing actions to achieve patient goals.
3. Creates and maintains a sterile field and anticipates the need for equipment and supplies based on a patient's needs.
4. Follows established policies and procedures for counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
5. Implements established policies and procedures for the care of specimens and tissue.
6. Monitors the patient during conscious sedation and assists anesthesiologist as necessary.
7. Facilitates the flow of the surgery schedule.
8. Demonstrates accountability in nursing actions.
9. Measures effectiveness of nursing care by evaluating patient outcomes and adjusting care based on new data.

Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing RN program.

Registration: Current licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing. CNOR preferred.

Experience: Completed/passed CHS Peri-op 101 and three month internship required prior to entering hired shift.

Job Knowledge: Must have a good knowledge of nursing principles and procedures with skills in good patient care.

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
