The D'Amour Center for Cancer Care, part of Baystate Health which is one of New England's largest healthcare systems with over 9,500 employees is seeking Oncology Nurse Clinicians.

 

Opened in January, 2004.  The D'Amour Center for Cancer Care is the result of the efforts of a team of over 100 people-cancer survivors, cancer activists, physicians, clinical staff, and health system administrators working together to create what they believe to be the optimal patient experience.  The Center was conceived, designed and built around the patient, supporting an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to cancer care.  It includes pediatric and adult hematology/oncology, ecological oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology, as well as both pediatric and adult infusion centers, radiation therapy, and procedure based services.  The D'Amour Center for Cancer Care, represents a personalized, coordinated, and integrated approach to cancer treatment.  Through a partnership with Siemens, the cancer center is a national show site.  The center is equipped with state-of-the art CT simulation, linear accelerators, and a Primatom, one of only a few in the country.  In addition, the facility provides up to date services including PSI, IMRT, HDR and stereo tactic radio surgery (implementation this spring).  As we continue to grow the following opportunities are available:

 

Oncology Nurse Clinicians

Full time; 4 - 9 hour days (8am - 5:30pm) No Weekends or Holidays

 

Description

Responsible for the development and delivery of high quality patient care and efficient, customer friendly service in the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care.  Responsible for the management of care for a defined group of patients along the healthcare continuum, works collaboratively with physicians and other health team members and is available to patients and families for consultation.  Responsible for ensuring that all educational needs, including age-specific needs are addressed for patients and families/significant others.  Possesses the knowledge and ability to safely administer chemotherapy, biological agents, and blood products and manages patient care in relation to these treatments.  Assumes a role in establishing and implementing policies/procedures and standards of care for DCCC.  Acts as an advocate for the patient/family/significant other.  Assumes accountability for own professional practice and for aspects of patient care delegated to others.  Practices within the ethical and legal parameters of nursing.

 

Requirements

BSN or RN who is actively enrolled in BSN program and scheduled for completion within 2 years of hire, and MA RN licensure required.  Minimum of 2 to 3 years of medical/surgical experience required, oncology experience strongly preferred.  OCN certification preferred, or will be required within 18 months of employment.
