This 400-bed hospital is located in Northern Illinois.  It is a Level One Trauma Center and a Level 3 NICU.  It is also the region?s leading surgery center with a reputation of leading-edge technology, comprehensive services, and outstanding facilities.

 THE UNIT

The Children?s Medical Center is home to an experienced staff of general pediatricians.  Additionally, we offer physicians in 19 pediatric medical specialties and subspecialties.  The Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care unit provide care for older children that require hospitalization from around the region.  Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care units are located in two wings of the hospital.  There are 27-Pediatric beds and 7 PICU beds.  12-17 year olds are located in their own special area.  There are 28 FTEs for Pediatrics and 15 FTEs in PICU. 

 NURSE MANAGER reports to the Director of Women?s and Children?s Services.  In collaboration with the Administrative Director and Medical Director, the nurse manager will have 24-hour accountability and the opportunity to affect all activities of patient care in the pediatric department. The nurse manager will do the planning, directing, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the patient care given, personnel and unit management.  In this collaborative management structure, you will be able to share responsibilities and functions across traditional department/unit boundaries; provide direction and administrative support to multidisciplinary teams who provide care and service to persons and families of the Health System; act as an expert resource to multidisciplinary teams and units as well as liaison to providers, consumers and other constituencies in the community.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS ? Registered Nurse.  Bachelor?s Degree or currently enrolled in a bachelor?s degree program. 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS ? 3-5 years in pediatric nursing.  Exhibit leadership and management qualities.  Must possess organizational healthcare skills, effective communication skills, superb customer service skills as well as a drive for accomplishments.

 SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS
