Pediatric RN - EMSC Expanded Role I, Part-time

This Pediatric RN Emergency Medical Services for Children, Expanded Role I position, is responsible for coordinating and providing, at a statewide and intermountain regional level, the expertise and educational resources to the prehospital, hospital and medical communities - specific to pediatric emergent care issues - in a high quality, appropriate and timely manner.??Collaborates, initiates?and directs educational activities for both prehospital, hospital, and medical personnel.? Responsible for maintaining a level of clinical competence as an example and resource for other health care providers in the prehospital domain.?This position is part-time, 24 hours a week.

Some of the job responsibilities include:Develop, coordinate, standardize, implement education plans based on data and needs assessment from EMSC Program CoordinatorEvaluate the impact of the education programs utilizing QA data, learner feedback and job performance criteriaCoach instructors and EMSC CoordinatorsParticipate on hospital and medical community committees; improve education processes, promote consistency in training, pool appropriate resourcesPerform as PALS, or PEPP instructor and coordinatorInstruct facility courses and/or outreach activities Work directly with the Assistant EMS Bureau Director in the implementation of BT grant-related activitiesResearch and review various educational mediums currently available or needed for pediatric disaster preparedness training for EMS providers and hospital personnelEstablish and implement a pediatric disaster preparedness training program and train-the-trainer schedule for Utah EMS and hospital personnelDevelop five disaster exercise scenarios for use by hospitals and EMS providersCreate and maintain reference/teaching/study/materials applicable to EMS/EMSC/ER providers Act as Department of Health resource and content expert for pediatric disaster related issuesAssess current ambulance and paramedic equipment and drug requirements; make recommendationsMake overall recommendations for EMS providers and hospitals standardized triage, treatment, transport, and transfer guidelines for pediatric patients



Requires a current Utah RN license and?3 years of pediatric clinical experience.? Also requires PALS, PALS Instructor.? Demonstrated teaching and leadership ability.? Demonstrated ability in fostering organizational communication.? Position requires extended periods of time spent standing with intermittent walking.? Lifting and carrying patient care/education equipment.

Prefer EMS experience and/or Prehospital Education for Pediatric Professional certification
