Description:

REDMOND - BIRTH & FAMILY CENTER RN is responsible for delivery of nursing care to individuals based on comprehensive assessment, analysis, collaboration with integrated team members, and educational needs of the patient. The registered nurse is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to customers of Central Oregon Community Hospital. In addition, the Women's Care Unit registered nurse must possess the skill and judgement to act independently, knowledgeably and appropriately in labor/delivery/nursery/postpartum situations that may occur with patients.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with CHC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Demonstrates effective leadership skills in communication, delegation, organization, and management of assigned work.
2. Helps the patient /family group to identify and meet basic health needs using identified standards of practice based on the nursing process. The registered nurse coordinates care using an interdisciplinary holistic approach.
3. Works to achieve desired outcomes through coordination of patient/family care with the effective use of resources.
4. Provides education using a broad range of teaching acivities to promote health and well being across varied ages and cultures.
5. Safely and accurately provides technical nursing skills and provides timely, accurate, and legible documentation of
pertinent information in the patient record.
6. Acts independently when appropriate and seeks supervision/guidance through established lines of communication when necessary.

Requirements:
Education / Experience: Graduate of an approved school of nursing required. Labor and delivery experience required or completion of training program. Completion of a basic fetal heart monitoring (FHM) course or equivalent on the job training for a minimum of six months. Must have at least 3+ years experience in a busy Labor & Delivery, at least 100+ births a month.

Other Qualifications/ License / Certificates: Current Oregon State RN license, CPR, NALS. Advanced FHM program completion required within six months.

Technical / Computer Skills: Demonstrates basic computer skills and an ability to access and use information in meaningful ways. Ability to operate technical equipment, performs nursing procedures, and complete unit specific competencies.
