REGISTERED NURSE, SURGERY EDUCATOR

Full-time day position with Shawnee Mission Medical Center, a Seventh-day Adventist community service. SMMC is a 383-bed acute care facility and part of the most preferred health care system in the Kansas City metropolitan area, Adventist Health System.  Located in beautiful Johnson County, Kansas, this family-friendly community offers a safe and relaxed atmosphere, high quality schools and easy access to museums, cultural arts, and professional sports teams. The Surgery Educator position will be responsible for meeting the educational and developmental needs of nursing staff to ensure staff has knowledge and skills to provide high quality, competent care of patients and families.  Educator facilitates the acquisition and application of clinical knowledge and decision making skills by unit nurses and other health care partners.  Will work in partnership with other educators, staff members, Clinical Nurse Specialists, vendors, physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the areas of orientation of new employees, preceptor selection/training/evaluation, inservice development and presentation, competency program implementation, education coordination function/structures, and other programs, as defined.  The educator will assess, develop, implement and evaluate individualized and group education needs/activities/outcomes. Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred.  Hours are from 6:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., M-F.
