RN--Interventional Radiology -- Registered Nurse

The Interventional Radiology RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.  The tasks and responsibilities include:

 Demonstrates knowledge of and implements all invasive and peripheral procedures as to adherence to aseptic and sterile technique, providing needed equipment and supplies in a timely manner.

 

2. Records all items used on the Interventional Radiology charge sheets and properly complete the Intra-operative record.

 

3. Obtains nursing history and identifies the risk factors of the patient and documents patients response to procedures.

 

4. Prioritizes and organizes patient care and procedure.

 

5. Ensures implementation of invasive standards for the Interventional Radiology Department including but not limited to:

 

a. Informed Consent

b. Clarification of patients expectations

c. Explanation of treatment process

d. Maintenance of privacy with minimization of patient exposure during procedures

e. Maintenance of confidentially of patient information.

f.  Adaptation of care to all ages and patients served within the facility.

g. Ethical considerations.

h. Handling of patient complaints.

i.  Reports all technical malfunctions to the Interventional Radiology Supervisor of that department.

j.  Plan of care during procedure through use of nursing diagnosis.

k. Anticipates and communicates need for patient teaching to physician and receiving unit.

 

6. Checks schedule and assignments, plans for assigned cases.

 

7. Performs nursing care according to radiologist orders and the nursing service policies and procedures of the hospital.

 

8. Checks armband and verbally questions patient or others to ensure the presence of the correct patient before starting procedures.

Required Job Qualifications include:Current licensure as an RN Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider. ACLS Certification Preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
