Job Description:


The position is for a research coordinator (a.k.a. protocol nurse) in a new and growing division under the Orthopaedic Institute. The Orthopaedic Institute Research Coordinator facilitates implementation of assigned clinical trials, including data collection and follow-up. Performs diverse clinical and clerical duties and must be detail oriented, motivated and able to function independently.  The coordinator interacts with potential research patients from the point of screening through completion of study. This includes helping to determine if the person is an appropriate candidate for a study, explaining the study and obtaining informed consent, collecting data, and compiling data in accordance with project requirements.


 


The coordinator works under the direction of the Orthopaedic Research Manager and will be working closely with physician assistants, physicians and various staff members. An attention to detail is a must. Computer literacy with Word and Excel Spreadsheets are a must. Flexibility in work loads and scheduling is important.


 


Although this is not a bedside care position, there is a great deal of hands on assessment for varying orthopaedic conditions and a working knowledge of radiographs, surgical procedure and orthopaedic management is necessary. The Ortho Research Coordinator position is a salaried position, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (flexible in and out times).


 


Requirements:

Must be a Registered Nurse, BSN preferred.
1-3 years of RN experience in Orthopaedics, OR or Trauma setting preferred. 
RN research experience preferred.
Must be flexible with work schedule/hours, as it fluctuates depending on research load.
Some on call hours may be required.
