With specialty coordinators spending 25% on management issues and 50% -75% of their time in direct patient care, some of the specific duties should include:
Assigning and adjusting staffing in individual teams- flex staffing as needed
Observing and supervising the staff to ensure quality of care and a safe environment
Coaching and counseling employees (will need training)
Holding staff accountable for policies and procedures
Supporting policy decisions and implementations
Participating in quality improvement projects
Assisting the manager in yearly performance appraisals
Working in collaboration with the educators to identify staff's educational needs
Tracking daily attendance violations and reporting to the manager
Reviewing time and attendance as necessary
Directing ancillary staff (assigned staff)
Participating in the interview process
Work one weekend per month in staffing capacity - will assume charge 7-3:30
Will take call as necessary when staffing levels are not optimal
Is dedicated to meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.
Will contribute to containing costs in service line by effectively utilizing supply management techniques and protocols. Can effectively identify practice protocols that do not jeopardize patient care, but minimize costs with recommendations to Specialty Coordinator of alternative processes that streamline workflow.
Will assist with strategic planning initiatives of service line by serving on committees and working with management to identify areas of improvement for the department and service line.
Understands and applies policies and procedures and clinical skills required by the position.
