We need a talented individual to fill the role of Registered Nurse for Children's National Medical Center. In this position, you will be the one who promotes and restores patients' health; identifies patient care requirements; establishes a compassionate environment; promotes patient's independence; assures quality of care; resolves patient problems and needs; maintains safe and clean working environment; protects patients and employees; documents patient care services; maintains continuity among nursing teams; maintains patient confidence and protects operations; ensures operation of equipment; maintains nursing supplies inventory; maintains professional and technical knowledge; maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams; contributes to team effort.
Qualifications
Encourages open communication by listening attentively and actively. Seeks to fully understand information from many points of view.
Is a compelling and articulate speaker in a variety of settings. Easily adjusts the message to match the audience.
Has extensive knowledge of the uses, dosages, side effects of medications as they apply to different disease states. Able to assess clinically whether medication is effective.
Superb diagnostic and clinical skills. Able to obtain an excellent history, perform an extensive physical, create a differential diagnosis, and formulate a treatment plan.
Experienced in working with highly infectious specimens and minimizing the hazards of infection.
Promotes team spirit and works collaboratively with others in the medical team.
Capable of performing general procedural nursing duties.
Excellent, in depth knowledge of physiological functions and processes as they relate to issues of patient care.
Excellent multi-tasking skills. Prioritizes and performs a variety of concurrent tasks with minimal direction.
Displays professionalism, compassion, and sound medical practice when dealing with challenging patients.
AS or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1-year experience required as a RN
District of Columbia nursing license
