Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing/Maternal Child Services, the staff RN is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members.

 

Requirements:

Age Specific: Patient care staff must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span.  Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient?s status.Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient?s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department?s policies and procedures.

 

This position possesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs for the following age groups: _x_ 29 days-18 Infant __x_ 19-40 Young Adult _x_ 40-65 yrs Middle Adult __x_ > 65 Older Adult

 

Qualifications:

-Current CA State licensure as a Registered Nurse.

-Current CPR certificate.

-Preferred recent appropriate nursing practice (within past 4 years), or a Maternal/Neonatal assessment course (within 6 months of hire), or evidence of successful completion of refresher courses (within 6 months of hire).

-NRP preferred at hire, required within first six months of employment.

-Experience and/or training in leadership preferred, if acting as a charge nurse.

-BSN, or equivalent experience, required if classified as an RNII.
