Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room

Located in Goshen, Ind., Goshen Health System is a not-for-profit provider of health care services. It includes Goshen General Hospital, which is a 116-bed community, Center for Cancer Care, The Retreat Women?s Health Services, Centers for Rehabilitation, and PrimeCare Physician Network. It serves a four-county service area with a population of approximately 52,000 and a referral base of 342,510. The community is diverse in culture and ethnicity, with growing Amish, Hispanic and Ukrainian populations. The health system is also an affiliate partner of Clarian Health, which includes Indiana University Hospital, Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis and Riley Hospital for Children. Provides nursing care to patients consistent with the mission, vision and values of Goshen General Hospital and the Department of Nursing?s Philosophy. Assesses patient needs, formulates a nursing diagnosis, prescribes and develops plan of care, implements and evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of care. Provides age specific and culturally relevant care utilizing evidence based nursing standards. Delegates activities to other unit colleagues. Collaborates with health care team members to coordinate the treatment plan and nursing care plan for safe and effective patient care. Participates in quality improvement activities, the TUL process and unit based governance activities to improve patient care and nursing practice.

Nurses are offered the opportunity to scrub as well as circulate the cases. The surgical unit is comprised of five surgical suites, construction is underway to increase to eight suites.
