Department: Hospital Nursing Telemetry/Stroke Unit

Schedule: Full-time Regular; 40 hours/week; Night Shift; Sunday through Saturday, 11:00pm - 7:30am.

Education: High School Diploma/GED.Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and completion of the current hours required by the BRN of RN student clinical experience OR Graduate of registered nursing and either 1) 2000 hours of RN experience in clinical area of specialty from a licensed acute care facility within three (3) years of graduation; or 2) graduate of an accredited licensed vocational nursing program that includes clinical student experience in acute care and has worked 2000 hours as an licensed vocational nurse within the clinical area of specialty within three (3) years before graduation.

License/Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California. Depending on the particular specialty, ACLS and or NALS and or PALS may also be required for this position.

Position Summary: Minimum of one (1) year acute inpatient experience as a n RN within the last 4 (four) years with clinical expertise in respiratory and cardiac nursing. Documentation of completion of Critical Care classes in Respiratory and Cardiac Monitoring preferred. Past experience in managing a diverse population of patients with multi-system diseases in a teaching environment preferred. Experience in directing and delegating tasks to other healthcare workers preferred. transitional/Intermediate care experience required, experience with cardiac monitoring and pulse oximetry. Demonstrated ability to recognize life-threatening arrhythmia required. Knowledge of nursing process. Effective written and oral communication skills, in English. Demonstrated ability to provide a consistently high quality of service to patients, visitors and staff. Good attendance record within the last year of employment. Must work within the parameters of the performance expectations for the category. Willing to receive orientation/training to other areas. Must float as assigned or where you meet the minimum skill requirements. Must work alternate weekends. Experience with surgical patients preferred or willing to receive training. Will be expected to work in the following areas: telemetry/Stroke, 6East, & 7West. Nurse who transfer to new position within his/her home department for the purpose of changing scheduled hours or shifts worked shall not be required to incur additional cross training as the result of such transfer.
