Transplant Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY:


The Organ Procurement  (OPC) is responsible for the identification of organ donors and for obtaining consent for organ donation from the next-of-kin within a ten county service area. The coordinator oversees the donors’ critical care management while coordinating the placement, surgical recovery, preservation and transportation of organs. The position is also responsible to assisting the Hospital Development Department in conducting regular death record reviews, meeting with and preparing reports for hospital administration, and providing educational programs for hospital personnel regarding the identification and referral of potential organ/tissue donors. This 24 hour on-call position requires extended work hours, flexibility and travel. As a team member of the OPO, the OPC actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.


 


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


·  ACLS  / PALS


·  Bilingual


·  Computer skills


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


·  1 year recent critical care experience


·  Position requires one of the following:


RN, PA, Respiratory Therapist (RT) or previous experience as an organ recovery coordinator


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


·  Extensive critical care experience


·  Trauma Center experience


·  Bachelors Degree  in health related field


·  Public speaking experience


· Teaching / Precepting experience


·  3 years recent experience in donor management and organ allocation with a CMS certified OPO


 


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:


Position requires one of the following if not hired based on organ recovery experience:


· Current Florida license for RN, or PA, or RT.
