Job Description:Shift: 3p-11p, M-F


Under general supervision, the Diagnostic Imaging Coordinator-Supervisor is responsible for coordinating operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department to assure quality and efficient operation.  Supervise Diagnostic Imaging personnel’s daily performance.  Provide technical imaging support to staff.  Meet with customers and partners to assure service levels are maintained (Rounding).  Utilizing the hospital performance improvement process (Access, Plan, Implement, Evaluate) in the goals of Imaging Services.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 


· Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions


· Ability to determine appropriate technical factors


· Knowledge of Radiographic and Fluoroscopic equipment


· Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety


· Ability to communicate effectively, coordinate staff and work with people of various diverse backgrounds


· Ability to multi-task under stress while dealing with large customer volumes 


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


· E-mail and word processing skills such as Outlook and Microsoft programs


· Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment


· Knowledge of Florida Hospital Protocols


· Working knowledge of the Florida Hospital Computer system


· Knowledge of Florida Hospital’s Image QA standards and policy


· Good organizational skills


· Good troubleshooting skills


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 


· Two years experience in hospital setting as a Registered Technologist


· Knowledge of ER, OR and Fluoroscopic imaging procedures


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: 


· Florida Department of Health – General Radiographer


· ARRT 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Directs daily activities of Diagnostic Imaging Department. Answers telephone using scripting guidelines.  Answers questions concerning charges.  Educates staff as needed.  [Supervision]


· Assures Diagnostic Imaging equipment is available and in good working condition by troubleshooting and reporting findings through the hospital work order system. Operates and maintains Imaging equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. Properly wears Dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure. [Safety and Environment of Care]


· Understands the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes towards process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department Gallup and patient satisfaction initiatives. Rounds with customers and partners to ensure proper levels of service are being met. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.  [Performance Improvement]


· Attends department and hospital meetings consistently and promotes positive dialogue with respect to department and hospital objectives. Listens and is responsible to understand all agenda items. Takes an active role in meetings when needed. [Meetings Attendance]


· Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders and troubleshoot exams as needed. Ensures charges match procedure needed and procedure completed. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS.  [Data Processing]


· Reviews images on Computed Radiography QS station for evidence and accuracy of RT/LT marker placement, proper orientation, positioning, contrast, and spatial resolution. Keep records of technologist performance with regards to QA, and issues infraction notices as appropriate.  [Image Quality]


· Is knowledgeable of a full range of imaging procedures and imaging equipment in assigned department. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedure on patients of all ages. Demonstrates a willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of technologists and students. [Clinical Competence]


· Assists Diagnostic Imaging Manager in meeting department budgeting goals, KQI and staff evaluations. Ensures department goals are met in regards to exam timeliness and quality. Monitors turn-around-times for various sections and works to maintain standards. Completes assigned projects and duties on time and completely. [Personal Productivity and Accountability]


· Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
