Description:

RADIOLOGY ASSISTANT provides transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Services Department or other outside medical services, as appropriate.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with SCMC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Follows health and Safety Policies and Procedures for quality patient care, transporting each patient
professionally and with careful consideration of their therapeutic needs.
2. Transports MRI patients to CORA.
3. Will work varied days and shifts, weekdays and weekends. May be scheduled for 8 or 12 hr shifts.
3. Performs cleaning of transport equipment and radiology rooms.
4. Assists with limited film library duties.

Requirements:
Education: Must be high school graduate or GED equivalent.

Registration: None.

Experience: Six months hospital patient transport experience preferred. Two to three weeks training in department before full assumption of required duties.

Job Knowledge: General understanding of all duties related to patient transportation. Secretarial knowledge preferable.

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
