Intermountain Healthcare Radiation Therapy currently treats over 1300 radiation therapy patients per year at two different Salt Lake City sites - on three linear accelerators and a high dose rate remote brachytherapy unit. Department staffing includes 6 radiation oncologists, 3 medical physicists, 3 dosimetrists, 9 radiation therapists - as well as 3 RN’s and other support staff. We jointly support a Radiation Oncology residency program with the University of Utah, and actively participate in multiple national protocol study groups. In early 2007, Radiation Therapy will be moving into what will be the largest health care complex in the Intermountain West — Intermountain Medical Center. The new facility will house two general-purpose linear accelerators, a Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery unit, and a body stereotactic unit. All modern radiation therapy techniques are employed, including IMRT, stereotactic RT, IORT, TBI, and HDR and LDR brachytherapy.LDS Hospital, a 520-bed teaching hospital, is the largest of the 20 health care facilities that Intermountain Healthcare owns and operates in the Intermountain West. LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City is seeking a senior level board certified (Radiation Therapy) Medical Physicist who has at least a Masters degree in a radiological science, and at least 3 years of clinical radiation therapy experience. Expertise in all aspects of radiation dosimetry - especially IMRT and stereotactic RT - is essential, as is familiarity with Varian Eclipse treatment planning system, VARIS, and related networking. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be organized, motivated, and able to function independently as well as in combination with others.
