Senior Project Support Engineer

Medweb, a San Francisco-based provider of teleradiology and PACS systems, is seeking a Senior Project Support Engineer to add to our existing team.  The Senior Project Support Engineer designs, installs and supports complex medical imaging networks, archives, and servers.

 

The Senior Project Support Engineer will be responsible for:

 

?  Installation and configuration of Medweb servers and related products.

?  Assisting customers with the design and installation of TCP/IP networks

?  Installation and configuration of firewalls and VPN routers

?  Handling escalated (Tier II) telephone and e-mail technical support calls from customers and coordinating responses

?  Participating in all technical aspects of product development, from design and implementation to testing and troubleshooting of UNIX-based servers

 

Required qualifications for this senior position:

?  At least 5 years of system and network administration experience in a Unix environment, including experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining TCP/IP routers and firewalls.

?  Thorough knowledge of Unix architecture, kernel and filesystem

?  Thorough knowledge of standard Unix tools, including shellscripting and Perl.

?  Strong knowledge of network services and protocols: DNS, FTP, SMTP, NFS,HTTP, DHCP, NIS, WINS.

?  Experience with SAN and NAS storage

?  Experience PostGres SQL (or equivalent)

?  Experience with Apache

?  Proven ability to comprehend new technology quickly

?  Excellent communication/problem solving skills

?  Demonstrated interpersonal skills

?  Professional phone and written communication abilities

?  Ability to work independently and under pressure

?  Bachelor?s degree from a well-known university, or equivalent experience

?  Valid passport and the ability to travel internationally.  This position requires 30% travel.

 

Desired qualifications:

?  DICOM / HL7 experience and big plus

?  C/C++ programming ability a big plus

?  Experience working within a large legacy code base

?  Successful experience at a small company

?  Experience in an FDA-regulated industry.
