Sonographer

Main Function: Under the supervision of a radiologist and reporting to the Chief Radiological Technologist, perform ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.

Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of formal sonography training in approved school.

Duties and Responsibilities:Operate imaging equipment to produce images of designated portions of the bodyPrepare patient for examPosition patients according to the established views and routines of the officeUtilize all factors and equipment necessary to obtain high quality diagnostic images Evaluate images for technical quality and accuracyAssume care for physical and psychological Practice aseptic technique as necessaryMaintain highest standard of patient safety at all timesAssist radiologist with imaging procedureDevelop and process film loading and unloading cassettesInitiate life support measures for patient if necessarySet up rooms with necessary items and maintain supplies. Stock rooms with routine supplies and inform the Chief Radiological Technologist when supplies are lowAssure proper patient identification and date procedure on film. Maintain patient records as directed. File films and reports in proper location. Prepare films to be signed out.Keep equipment, accessories, cassette, and rooms clean and orderly. Perform sterile proceduresBring any deviation of normal operations to the attention Chief Radiological TechnologistHelp secretarial staff to perform duties such as answering phones and filing reports when necessaryAny other duties as Chief Technologist or Business Manager may require
