Celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston on the sprawling campus of the Texas Medical Center. It is one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.
M. D. Anderson was created by the Texas Legislature in 1941 as a component of The University of Texas System, and the faculty numbers 947 - both M.D.s and Ph.D.s. M. D. Anderson is one of the nation's original three Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Act of 1971 and is one of 39 such centers today.

Function: The Ultrasound Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the section of Ultrasound. These functions include supervision of the ultrasound technologists and other staff, coordination of the schedules, patient flow, communication with staff radiologists, systems operation and quality control performance.
Scope: To supervise and control the Ultrasound section by leading the ultrasound tech-nologists and assisting staff, monitoring patient flow; initiating quality improve-ment procedures, evaluating and counseling technical staff and providing daily logistical information to the Ultrasound Manager
EDUCATION
Required: Must be a graduate of an approved program of ultrasound technology; must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Preferred: Bachelors degree in Ultrasound or Management in a health related field
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years of experience as a registered Ultrasound Technologist at The Univer-sity of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center or five years as a Ultrasound Tech-nologist at an outside institution with two years of supervisory experience
Preferred: Ten years as a Ultrasound Technologist at an outside institution with five years of supervisory experience. Additional training and experience with duplex, color and power Doppler and vascular imaging
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and current CPR certification
Preferred: Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), current CPR certification and allied health licensure
WORKING CONDITIONS
Moderate to heavy lifting of supplies and patients is required. Possible exposure to biohazardous materials, patients with communicable diseases, radiation areas and strong static magnetic fields. Must be willing and able to offer service and assistance to patients of all ages, races, cultural backgrounds, beliefs and disease processes. In the event of extended operational needs or un-usual environmental occurrences, overtime may be required to accommodate patient care.
