Addictions Counselor

Immediate opening for a full time Addictions Counselor at Mount View Youth Services Center (MVYSC) in Denver, Colorado.  MVYSC is a treatment services facility for adolescent offenders.  The goal of the treatment program at MVYSC is to increase the accountability, skill development, self-management, self control and problem-solving skills, as well as decrease assaults, suicidal behaviors, mental health symptoms, substance abuse, sexual abuse, and criminal thinking/ behaviors in high-risk juvenile offenders.

 

Qualifications

s  CAC II or III

s  Masters degree (M.A.) in the social services and two (2) years experience OR a Bachelor?s degree and three (3) years experience in working with adolescents in a residential or institutional setting.

Knowledge/Skills

s  Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapies and social learning approaches with high-risk adolescent offenders.

s  Experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary team working with youth and families from culturally diverse backgrounds.

s  Additional training/experience in offense specific treatment and mental health treatment with adolescents is preferred.

Responsibilities

s  Provide clinical mental health services in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.

s  Provide direct treatment services to juvenile offenders in the Everest Program utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques and strength-based approaches, to include individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention, individualized treatment plans within an institutional setting, and transition plans.
