Bilingual Mental Health Specialist II

Star View Community Services, a leader in providing multidisciplinary mental health services to children and their families is seeking full-time pre-licensed mental health specialists at various locations:  Long Beach, Torrance, and Highland Park.  This is a fabulous opportunity for a Master?s level graduate to develop excellent clinical skills while getting paid supervised hours toward licensure.

 

Our services include community-based programs provided in homes, at school campuses, and in our community-based centers and facility-based programs.  We employ behavioral health workers including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and parent partners.  We are an established and reputable company serving children all over Los Angeles County.

 

Specific Education, Certification and Skill Requirements:

1.  Master's Degree in a Human Services or related field plus 2 years experience working with SED youth.

2. Board registered MFTI, ACSW, or Psy. D.

3. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

4. Cultural competence in Latino and/or African American families preferred.

5 .Valid California Driver's License.

 

Job Summary:
The Mental Health Specialist II works with families and in a full service partnership with other clinical and support staff.  This position is responsible for providing a variety of mental health services including assessment and evaluation, individual, family and group therapy, crisis management, and "whatever it takes" to effectively maintain placement of clients.

This position requires the ability to relate to children with emotional disturbances and their families; the ability to drive to and from client?s homes in personal vehicle; and the ability to perform clear and concise documentation. Knowledge of Community Resources, especially related to the Mental Health field, is highly desirable to make appropriate linkages.
